This was taken right outside my old store! I was probably working when it was taken!
I miss this old Cashel Mall. I think it was so much more beautiful than the containers…Stupid Earthquake…
Sometimes I feel like people in Christchurch are getting worse.
All complexes and no manners.
christchurch cathedral will be demolished.
a final decision was announced today by the bishop. she said it was purely for financial reasons as $100 million to rebuild a replica was simply not justifiable.

One thing I hate about New Zealand
We only unite as one for two things: Sports, and Sad events.
It would be nice to Celebrate something else great as a whole, but I don’t see it ever happening.

Today is a year since the massive Earthquake that forever changed Christchurch.
And EVERYONE who lives or has lived in New Zealand is posting something about it on Facebook.
I woke up feeling actually pretty optimistic about the day, but as soon as I jumped on my feed I got assaulted by all that sadness and it really bought me down, somewhat unnecessarily IMO.
I know it was a devastating event, and I know that we should acknowledge that people died, and the city will never be the same, but all the media coverage and all that grief concentrated in one place can’t be doing anyone any good. If I was one of the people who lost more than a beloved building, then it would be opening more scars than healing them.
Maybe I’m just not as…human as other people?

sometimes I just get in this mood where I want to talk about how much I love Christchurch
but I can’t put it into words.

It’s been ages since I was properly on here.
Things have been so full on since I got back from Australia.
Work has just been hectic, what with events and a Midnight Launch for Battlefield 3. Pretty nice Midnight Launch as well. I had a DJ and everything! Small turn out, but everyone there was a GC so its all good.
This week was a 6 day week (Day 6 is about to begin)
I can’t wait til today is over so I can just chill with my Owey.
I still have this damned chest infection. I can’t seem to shake it. Probably due to stress and not resting.

I went to city mall after work yesterday to check it out. It just opened for the first time yesterday. The only part open is the side of Cashel Mall that my store used to be on. It’s so hard to believe how different it is, when walking down there I can actually still imagine all the old stores that used to be there (pre Earthquake)
It’s a really nice part of town now, filled with all kinds of ritzy shops. A lot of high end fashion stores.
It still makes me kinda sad though. There’s a clothing store and a Cafe where my store used to be. I wanted to get a photo yesterday but it was way too packed.
Where The Bog used to be is now a car park =(
Dimitris is still standing for now, but not operating. I think their building’s fate depends on the building they’re backed up on.
I miss Cathedral Square and Hereford street. These massive changes are going to take some getting used to.
I read in the newspaper that Sol Square is relatively unscathed, and they want to reopen as soon as possible.
That would certainly be nice.
It did irritate me a little that there were a handful of Occupy Christchurch protesters there, going on about how the rich should share their money with the poor (because it’s such a high end shopping centre now). Couldn’t they leave it alone?
Christchurch is trying to get back on it’s feet and I think it’s really great to see that they’ve put a lot of effort into it, and gotten some shops in that will bring some revenue into the city’s economy
Yesterday Owey and I went to Sumner to check out the beach and get me some photography practice.
There were so many beautiful things to see, and it was great for really getting used to constantly having to change the aperture and shutter speed to suit the lighting of the scene.
I think I got some good composition practice as well. Now if only my computer would stop overheating every time I try to do something =(
